Cheese shops

The cheese that tastes best where it tastes best is in Guía. Either in the cheese shops of the artisan producers themselves, in the Casa del Queso or in the Old Town, where you cannot leave without visiting one of the establishments specialised in the sale of this delicacy, the Queso de Flor.

On a visit to the historic centre of Santa María de Guía it is almost obligatory to try, or take, cheese. In addition, it is a privilege if you do it in any of the places dedicated to the sale of cheese that you can find here, and even more so if you visit them between the months of January and June, when the cheese is at the best moment of its production. Outside of those months it is just as good, but scarcer. In any case, and at any time of the year, you will lose a unique opportunity if you come to Guía and do not visit the traditional shops where, in addition to finding the famous Flor Cheese, you will also find the other two varieties of cheese that make up the Denomination of Origin Protected Guía Flor Cheese: Half Flor Cheeses and Guía or rennet Cheeses. Los Quesos de Arturo, La Frutería de San Roque, El Cambuyón and La Bodega, due to their history, their decoration or the place where they are located, are worth a visit, in them, in addition to cheeses, they also offer other typical products such as breads, sweets, wines or craft beers with which you can accompany the tasting. You can also find local crafts and other utensils here.
